Ambassador Philbert Johnson

Regional Director, UNIDO representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS

Ambassador Philbert Johnson serves as the Director and Representative to ECOWAS and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). In this capacity, he collaborates with governments, private sector actors, and regional institutions to promote sustainable industrial development, strengthen trade and investment, and support job creation across West Africa. He held senior positions within Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, including Director of the Africa and Regional Integration Bureau and Head of the ECOWAS National Office. He has also represented Ghana in diplomatic postings in New York, Ottawa, Brussels, Moscow, and Bern, advancing the country's interests in various international fora. Mr. Johnson holds degrees in History, International Law and Economics, and International Affairs. Fluent in English and French, he is known for his commitment to regional cooperation, good governance, and inclusive economic growth.
